Running Out of Clean Fiction?
-
Children learn from the stories they read.
Fiction should illustrate good character attributes and how to handle tough situations without sacrificing plot or pacing and without any heavy-handed narrator moralizing. Characters should make choices and deal with the consequences.
Bad stories give them an unrealistic view of the world and how it works.
Good stories help children learn how to apply Biblical teaching to everyday situations. -
Your kids might not have to rescue badger princesses, but Yarrow's struggles in The Ballad of the Badger King show character development and self-control. -
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
Phillipians 4:8 ESV
Our books will always illustrate Christian morals and principles.
Whether you're looking for middle-grade, young adult, or just clean, quality fiction, I hope you enjoy the story!

from 23 reviewsMiddle Grade Fantasy Gently Christian Cool adventure book! I’d love to read this with the kids in my life!

We really enjoyed this book as a family! The characters were complex and growing which I loved! The woodland setting and characters and kingdom were charming at the plot was interesting and engaging. I can’t wait for book 2 to find out what happens to princess Frageria, her friends, the troop and the kingdoms! This book reminded me of The Green Ember and Wingfeather Saga!

A fun, clean, and engaging tale for the whole family. Good vocabulary and character growth to spark discussion. This story will have you wanting to read the next chapter and the next book!

My not-crazy-about-reading-but-here-for-anything-woodland-animals 12-year-old absolutely devoured this book. It was the first time I’ve ever had to tell him to put down a book and go to bed. He (and I!) anxiously await book 2!

This was written for kids and it's a great kids book. But you don't have to be a kid to enjoy it. I am old enough to be retired but I read it and enjoyed it. It's a great story with memorable characters.

From the 14 yo to the 6 year old, it was an enjoyable book.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the audiobook version of this! It is very much in the vein of Redwall and The Green Ember.

Fun adventure story! I look forward to reading it to my kids when they're a little older.

Excellent book! Love how this book ignites the imagination of my kids and myself too! It's so refreshing to just read an adventure book that has no agendas, underlying political theme, or strutting of social issues. It's an clean adventure kids can get into right away. Thank you so much! Looking forward to more stories!!!

My kids and I loved this book. It was a great family read aloud for boys and girls ages 5-14. Fun, witty, adventurous, well written, creative and exciting. I highly reccomend.

This was a fun and exciting adventure! I love how Heidi had created a character who is more relatable than we would like to believe as he begins his journey into learning humility and that his comfort isn’t the only thing that matters. Each of the characters play a great part in telling the story. The foxling twins are easily my favorite characters. Looking forward to the next installment.

I read this book to check it our, since I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the Wingfeather Sage. I am a grandmother and found the characters very believable and enjoyed seeing how Yarrow, the main character, grew during the story. It was exciting and kept me reading all day! I am interested in seeing how the allusions to Christianity play out in the rest of the series.

I previewed this book before letting my 10 year old read it and I loved it. She's is not finished yet, but is loving every page.

I'm not sure how many times I thought, "Just one more chapter..." as I read this book. The story grabbed me from the beginning, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I like a story with good character development and descriptions that transport me, and this has both. Can't wait for the next in the series! P.S. This would make such a great family read aloud.
